The Government of Telangana has announced its intention to launch the Telangana State Skill Mission (TSSM) program, aimed at equipping 500,000 unemployed youth and recent graduates with essential skills before 2019. An apex body, the Telangana State Skill Council (TSSC), will be established under the chairmanship of the Hon'ble Chief Minister to provide policy direction for this initiative.

The TSSM will operate under the guidance of the TSSC and is set to be registered as a society under the Societies Act. This structure will ensure that it reports directly to the Chairman of the TSSC, thereby facilitating effective oversight and strategic alignment with the state's skill development goals.
